Homesafe Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 81 106 784 918) ("Homesafe", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to providing quality services to you, and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The APPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?
Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies, or could reasonably identify, an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect include: names, addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers.
We collect this Personal Information in a number of ways, including: through meetings and correspondence; by telephone and email; via our website www.homesafe.com.au; from publicly available sources; from cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies and our website" below); and from third parties. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites we may link to.
We collect, hold and use your Personal Information for the following primary purposes:
- facilitating and responding to your enquiry about Homesafe Wealth Release and our other products and services; and
- administering, managing and performing any contract you enter into with us.
We may also use your Personal Information for the following related secondary purposes, where you would reasonably expect us to do so, or where you have consented:
- sending you marketing and promotional material about our products and services; and
- disclosing your information to our third-party partners for their use (including marketing), where you have consented to this.
You may opt out of, or unsubscribe from, our marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe facility in the relevant communication or by contacting us using the details below. We will not disclose your Personal Information to a third party for that third party’s own marketing purposes without your consent.
When we collect Personal Information we will, where practicable, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.
Sensitive Information
Sensitive Information is a special category of Personal Information defined in the Privacy Act. It includes information or an opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association or trade union, criminal record, and health information.
We will only collect Sensitive Information where it is reasonably necessary for our functions or activities and where you have consented, or where the collection is otherwise required or authorised by law. In practice, the Sensitive Information we may collect is limited to:
- Name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Identification documents required for Verification of Identity
- Information in relation to a homeowner’s property.
Sensitive Information will be used and disclosed by us only for the primary purpose for which it was obtained, for a directly related secondary purpose, with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.
Collecting information from third parties
Where reasonable and practicable, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information about you by third parties — for example, financial advisers, brokers, family members acting on your behalf, or referral partners. In such cases we will take reasonable steps to ensure you are made aware that we have collected the information and the purposes for which it was collected.
Disclosure of your Personal Information
We may disclose your Personal Information in a number of circumstances, including:
- to third parties where you have consented to the use or disclosure;
- to service providers and contractors who assist us to operate our business (for example, IT, data hosting, mail houses, professional advisers and analytics providers), who are required to protect your information consistently with this policy;
- to our related entities and business partners in connection with the products and services you have enquired about; and
- where required or authorised by law, or to a court, tribunal or regulator.
Sending information overseas
Some of the service providers we use may store or process your Personal Information outside Australia. Before disclosing Personal Information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs.
Security of your Personal Information
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We maintain physical, technical and organisational security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.
How long we keep your information
We retain Personal Information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Where you enter into a Homesafe contract, your information is generally retained in our customer files for the period that the contract remains in force and for a further period afterwards to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
If a person does not become a customer of Homesafe, information is retained for a period of seven (7) years. If a person does become a customer of Homesafe, information is retained for a period of seven (7) years post the termination of the last Contract with Homesafe.
When Personal Information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may be used or disclosed, and we are not legally required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it.
Data breaches
We have procedures in place to detect, assess and respond to data breaches. If we experience an eligible data breach involving your Personal Information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in the Privacy Act.
Access to and correction of your Personal Information
You may request access to the Personal Information we hold about you, and ask us to update or correct it, subject to certain exceptions permitted under the Privacy Act. To make a request, please contact our Privacy Officer using the details below.
We will not charge a fee for an access request, although we may charge a reasonable administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information. To protect your Personal Information, we may require you to verify your identity before we release any information.
Keeping your Personal Information accurate
It is important to us that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up to date. We take reasonable steps to maintain the quality of the information we hold. If you believe the information we have is inaccurate or out of date, please let us know as soon as practicable so we can update our records.
Cookies and our website
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being used; however, some parts of the website may not function properly if you do.
The Homesafe website uses Google Analytics and Meta Pixels.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The current version is always available on our website, and the "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
